UP TO DATE - ALMOST from The Proficient Needle

I've been catching up on my "52 Blocks in 52 Weeks" project.  I cut out parts for 4 or 5 blocks, and then sew them together.    I finished up to block 43 last night, but then downloaded block 44 this morning.

I have been spending time with my Electric Quilt software, deciding how I am going to use the blocks in a layout.  Straight set, or on point, what kind of sashing, how many borders etc.  I'm sure I'll figure it out by the time the final block pattern is released.

FINALLY - SOME MACHINE TIME! from The Proficient Needle

This year, we have taken a different approach to getting organized at our southern location.  In the past, we have worked hard every day, doing our "fall cleaning", both inside and out, unpacking everything that travels with us, and restocking the refrigerator, pantry and freezer.  This year, we decided to take some time for ourselves - everything will happen eventually!

The past 2 mornings, I have been working on getting caught up with my blocks for the "52 Blocks, 52 Weeks" challenge from the Canadian Quilters Association.  I purchased 3 shades of batik fabric last February, and have been working away ...

The Quilting Has Begun!! from Quilting through Rose-colored Trifocals!

The quilting of my scrappy blue hexagons quilt has begun!!
Found the perfect thread in my stash and revved up my APQS George for the first time all summer!?!
I'm keeping to a simple grid that follows the ditch of the seams and crosses through the center of each hexagon.
I've used this approach before and like the simplicity, the sturdiness and the effect.
I can come and go from the stitching over the next few days and hopefully be binding this sweet little quilt next week!!
After a record fast trip to eastern Pennsylvania to watch my ...

Stars Around the Garden July OMG Finish from Patchwork Sampler Blog

Stars Around the Garden is a big quilt but somehow I managed to finish it this month. The One Monthly Goal challenge really motivates me to finish something every month. There is no penalty if you don’t meet your goal, but it’s so nice when you do!

No wonder this was a UFO for so long. I had no idea how to quilt it. It also had a lot of parts: slab borders, pieced borders, pieced blocks and an applique center. I really wanted to just quilt and edge to edge pantograph, but in the end, decided it ...

Dance of the Poinsettias Progress from Quilt Obsession

Can Can Front, February 18, 2019 IMG_2730wtmk

I’ve now added ten of the 10-point stars to my version of Can Can, now Dance of the Poinsettias. I’d finished the little pink units I showed in my post on Friday and had actually already added one before I remembered to take the progress picture.

Can Can Back, February 18, 2019 IMG_2728wtmk

The back after pressing.  I’m grading the seams right away which helps when pressing.

The next round requires ten  large 10-point stars. I need to make a total of 16 more large 10-point stars for the entire top and I may — I haven’t decided this yet — make all 16 before ...
